Join us for a Zoom forum on Thursday, December 9 for those interested in restoring citizen-owned elections to Thornton. We'll hear from elected officials and other community leaders, review recent reforms recently passed or being considered in Colorado's five biggest cities, and begin charting a course for change in Thornton. Publicly Financed Elections in Fort Collins

Fort Collins has been a model for achieving meaninful change through campaign finance reform at the local level. In recent years, they have taken significant steps in getting big money out of politics by lowering contribution limits to candidate campaigns and requiring disclosure of dark money. Now the residents of Fort Collins are drafting a proposl for Publicly Financed Elections, drawing on the Boulder model that has been in place and running successfully for decades.

Defend Fair Elections

Two years ago, Denver passed The Fair Elections Act with 71% of the vote. Now Mayor Hancock and City Council are considering cutting funds in its first year, disrupting the new publicly financed campaign system and threatening its existence.
